Dodgers, Angels Falling Fast

Dodgers and Angels are Bummin

Lost amidst the celebration of Kobe's hoop heroics and the Clippers getting a playoff series win, the Angels and Dodgers have been dropping games, both sporting a 12-14 record after getting beat Monday by the A's and Diamondbacks respectively.

The Dodgers lost a killer against the Padres on Sunday after the bullpen blew a 5-run lead... IN THE NINTH INNING. That was the Dodgers first loss after leading a game after eight innings. They then go and get nicked by the Diamondbacks 3-2 last night. JD Drew went hitless again and has now gone hitless in his last two games after getting a hit in 11 straight. Dodger cleanup hitter Jeff Kent is hitting just .190 and leadoff hitter, Rafael Furcal isnt doing much better at .200. If the Dodgers are to get it going, those key players need to get back on track. The Dodgers will try to get it right against the D'backs again tonight at 6:30.

Meanwhile, the Angels got swept... (SWEPT!?!) by the Chicago White Sox in a rematch of the American League Championship series from last season. LAist STILL believes the Halos were robbed but that is neither here nor there. The Angels, just to show how crazy things have become, are under .500 for the first time since 2003! After the tough 1-0 loss to Oakland yesterday, the Angels have lost five of their last six. John Lackey (3-1 3.09 ERA) looks to right the ship today.

With the season in full swing, the two teams need to get back on track to keep pace with tthe leaders in their respective divisions. LAist will keep an eye on our teams... as soon as the Lakers do their thing tonight against Phoenix.
