Wassup on Montana

Wassup Rockers, the new film from Larry (Kids) Clark, features a bunch of Latino skate kids that head to Beverly Hills. On Monday the kids, pro skaters, moviemakers and more hit chi-chi Montana Avenue in Santa Monica for a screening at the Aero and, we hear from a tipster, tied up traffic.

The photo above shows, from left, Renee Renee (thankfully sparing us the outfit's matching turquoise shorts), director Larry Clark and pro skater Anthony Mosley streetside. After posing, the guys couldn't budge Travis (Blink 182) Barker's vintage Chevy. Then Santa Monica police showed up and were a bit suspicious of all the tattooed-types, turquoise outfit wearers, and brown-skinned teenagers milling around on Montana.

Eventually the car got started and Montana Avenue's tranquility was restored. As for the movie, LAist caught it at Sundance; we thought it "has trouble deciding if it's a mockumentary, a comedy, or a social commentary" but it "does get some amazing performances from the teens." It's slated for release in June.
