NBA Bound Bruins?

UCLA super soph guards Arron Afflalo and Jordan Farmar both declared for the NBA draft yesterday. They will not hire agents however and will be able to return to the team next season, as they are just testing the NBA waters and want to see where they would be drafted. They will hold individual workouts for scouts and GMs in May and will have until June 18th to withdraw their names from the draft.
Farmar and Afflalo were the engine of the UCLA machine that made a run to the NCAA championship game. With the co-captains at the controls, UCLA made their first championship game since 1995, won their first Pac-10 regular season title since 1997, and won their first Pac-10 tourney title since 1987! They tied a school record for wins in a season (32) and set a new record for games played in a season (39). Farmar and Afflalo were also co-winners of the Coach John Wooden Award as co-MVPs of the Bruins.
LAist is happy to see that coach Ben Howland has picked talent that is worthy of the NBA, however we are a little worried at what the guard's potential early exit will do the the team's progress. This is the most successful campaign in over a decade for the Bruins. With Farmar and Afflalo back, the Bruins are good bets to go far again, without them, it could be back to square one.
