Thursday night

bhangra.JPG

From bhangra to book smarts, from rock to margaritaville, there's something for everyone tonight. And if you go see Jimmy Buffet, we want photos. We'll post 'em.

UCLA Bhangra 2006
6 pm at The Fowler
Join UCLA's award-winning Bhangra team in a fun-filled evening of Punjab-inspired modern Indian dance. Outdoors, light refreshments provided.

music from AM + free drinks!
6-8pm at the Knitting Factory
At the door, say Billboard invited you to Billboard Underground Live for the free drink tickets.

Jimmy Buffett
8pm, Verizon Wireless Amphitheater, Irvine
Still hanging out in Margaritaville

Talk. Talk? Talk!
9pm at Cole's / free
Presented by The Historical El Ey Boys & Girls Society (myspace), featuring discussion led by Josh Kun, Lynell George, Kim Cooper and Kyle Buchanan. We're not sure what's in store, but these folks are all interesting and smart... and hopefully Cole's will have restocked the Chimay tap by tonight.

Cat Hair Ensemble and more
9:30pm, Mr. Ts Bowl / free
Tom Waits-influenced ensembles include trumpets, accordian, guitar, bass and ye old percussion.

Billy Childish
normal rock time, Spaceland
Of Thee Headcoats and others, old enough to be yer grandpa, Billy Childish could learn you some crazy old offbeat rock.
