Take a death trip

deathvalleyphotobloggers.jpg

LA photobloggers recommend taking a trip out to Death Valley now while the weather is still endurable. This weekend, while the temps will top off in the high 60s in Los Angeles, the Death Valley mercury will rise into the 90s. The shots that Ian got recently look almost like another planet — the kind of planet where summer temperatures regularly spike over 120 degrees.

i second that notion. i went around this time last year. but it was special in that it was exploding with wildflowers at that time...

I third that. I head to Death Valley at least once a year, usually in November. But next month we'll be making a quick weekend trip to check off one more thing from my Things To Do In DV list: hike to the top of the park's 11,000-foot Telescope Peak. At the probably snowy summit I'll be able to look over one shoulder up at Mt. Whitney (the highest point in the lower 48) and over the other shoulder down at Badwater (the lowest point in the western hemi). No. Place. Else. On. Earth.

Thanks for the hit, here are the rest of the images from a week or so ago...
