And Toto Too?
Remember the band Toto? Their big hits were "Africa" and "Rosanna" (about band member girlfriend Rosanna Arquette). But we digress. Of course you don't remember Toto. Their dated, post-Steely Dan overproduced studio snoozers will make you glad it's hard to find their music in 2006.
Still we cannot resist this video. It's almost entirely Toto on the roof of a building in downtown LA, circa 1986. The skyline is somewhat similar, and we think the building is south of Wilshire. But where exactly are they? Can you tell?
We think this one is harder than the Bradbury Building.

The soundtrack to Dune was genius, though.
(Well, maybe not genius-genius, but it was good.)

Ooo! Oo! I so know!! The building's on the northeast corner of Spring Street and 6th Street. And the band had breakfast at Clifton's beforehand!
OK, so maybe not, but I swear I've got the building pegged.

Not sure of the name of the building, but it's on the east corner of 6th and Spring.

Possible Spring & 6th...I recoginized a radio tower in the shot but couldn't really place it right. I'm at 5th & Spring so I can see two twin radio towers a few blocks away....
Anyone else know ? I tried freeze-framing the video but couldn't get a handle on it.

my good goodness. that video is truly a find. I believe they are standing atop the Porcaro-Lukather building, est. 1921. I could be wrong.
Item: just noticed they will be at the wiltern in september. Opening for arctic monkeys, I assume

Possibly Spring & 6th?! Possibly?!!! Harumph. What am I invisible here? I'll bet anyone a hundie that it's DEFINITELY northeast corner of 6th and Spring.

will, i will give you that hundie if you get atop the building at 6th and spring and have somebody videotape yourself singing in vuarnets and a bad button-down just to prove the point. can we please just go blow it on food someplace though...

Hey Ryan, I'm game... about the food that is, not the dare (alas, I'm sans Vuarnets). Well actually my recommendation is a combo of food and dare. There's this Chinese place across from Tom's in Silver Lake that I've been curious to try, but I need to go with a hearty and adventurous soul such as yourself. The place sports a "B" in the window and a horrible old sign that simply reads L.A. Chinese Food. I've occasionally seen customers in there, but they are few and far between. I'm itching to throw caution to the wind and give it a try. You in?
