What Would Jesus Blog?

lostblogs.jpg

It's a moment every writer either dreads or dreams of — the appearance of your very own fan base.

It's even more mind-blowing when a fan base coalesces around a book that hasn't even been published yet. Such is the dilemma facing LAist.com's resident provocateur, Paul Davidson.

One of Paul's loyal readers, Kevin Apgar, has organized a "Grassroots Blogger Book Marketing Campaign" or GBBMC to promote Paul's latest book, "The Lost Blogs: From Jesus to Jim Morrison," which will be released on May 8, 2006 (you can preorder it from Amazon.com, among other online booksellers now). The book questions (and answers) what blogs by Jesus or other historical figures may have looked like.

In anticipation of the book's release, GBBMC has invited Paul's fellow bloggers, readers, and fans to create pseudo-celebrity blogs. The challenge is for readers to identify the unnamed famous person based on each blog entries. So far, more than 40 bloggers have signed up to blog every day for one week straight from Monday, April 10 to Friday, April 14, 2006. You can check the expanding blogroll here.
