Those questions were completely relevant to Bush's job, and he should have been able to address them.

That said, he does have a more moderate position on immigration than the Republicans in the House who are promoting this legislation. I'm not sure his "guest worker" alternative is a great idea, but he does think the proposed bill is too harsh. (Also, he knows that a lot of people who voted for him are immigrants or come from recent immigrant families).

Have we really come to the point where we don't expect the President of the United States to be aware of the issues and be able to answer intelligently. Even if he isn't up on all the facts, he should be able to respond with some sense of what she was talking about. That is his job.

I've seen Tony Blair do it. I've seen Clinton do it. Hell, I watch other politicians with far less power do it on "comedy programs" like Real Time and The Daily Show. Joe Biden did a particularly impressive job this last Friday night.

There was a time when American Presidents wrote intelligent Op-Ed pieces and made compelling cases for their policy initiatives at speaking engagements and on college campuses.

If we don't expect him to know, then who do we expect to know?

Hey, I hate Bush as much as the next guy, but come one, who the fuck WOULD know the answer to that question?
And it's about Iraq, not the United States...
