United We Stand?

Tomorrow, the Immigration Debate gets a lot more complicated. Being called "A Day Without An Immigrant" in some cities across the country, expect Immigrant Rights Monday to look a lot less Latino and a little more like a Benneton ad. Daniel B. Wood in the Christian Science Monitor quotes Chung Wha Hong in New York who says, "This is America's civil rights battle for the 21st century."

With the addition of so many more faces, cultures and concerns, the debate moves beyond the already complex issue of undocumented folks and on to the many changes in American policy in the post-9/11 world.

Despite the fact that this call to action is being organized mostly over the internet, we haven't been able to easily find out where the protests and marching will take place. We'd venture to guess though that you should add some time to your commute downtown if you're not going to jump out of your car and participate.

And, it ain't over. Mark May 1st on your calendar as well.
