If you haven't heard, the LAPD scored in a major drug bust on Thursday. A police raid netted $1 million in pot, cash and guns from a Jamaican drug ring operating out of a Westlake apartment (300 block of West 2nd Street) near downtown. (Now don't confuse the area with LA's Westlake Village suburb, which is about as far on the neighborhood spectrum as you can get.)

What all the news reports don't tell us is how the police plan to dispose of the 1,000-plus pounds of pot. They're not going to leave the stuff outside of the Rampart Division dumpsters. We're assuming that you have to burn the grass, right? And that second-hand smoke has to waft somewhere.

Now who'd like to volunteer for that assignment?
