The Cops and Four Other "The" Bands

If you are the type to look for great music at a low price called free, where were you last Monday? There was not only 4 hours of music; there was free pizza (a gift from The Lashes in the middle of their set) and a guy in a monkey suit telling horrible jokes of loneliness that actually might make you laugh (or maybe not).

Spaceland’s free “Mondays in March” features The Lashes with special guests (tonight’s show listed below). No disappointments last week with any of the bands: The Figurines, The Divorce and The Cops.

Because we sometimes like to explore the bands not in the spotlight, we went for The Cops. The Cops are punk, but not that brand of punk that is Anti-Flag, Guttermouth or Goldfinger. They are classic with a modern edge and full sound of The Ramones, The Replacements and The Clash mixed with some prog rock, old school Green Day and Elvis' bluesy stop-time sound. These guys have heart and you can see it when they are on stage (and occasionally off stage as the lead singer frequently enters the audience). Their album Get Good or Stay Bad feels fresh and energizing on each listen and has yet to becomes a bore.
