Dane Davis won the Oscar for “Best Effects, Sound Effects Editing” for The Matrix. He’s also a photographer. Catch is his piece and other artists at LACDA on Gallery Row at the opening reception this Thursday from 7:00 to 9:00. The show will run until April 1.

Also, Thursday on Gallery Row will be the monthly Downtown Art Walk that includes 20 art galleries. Take the self-guided tour, guided tour, or ride your bike on the Downtown Art Ride.

Counterpoint Records & Books has an art gallery called Harmony Gallery. Survival of the Fittest brings together a 13-member group show that represent “new breed” of artists (check out each artist's link at the bottom of the page, it's worth a look). Opening reception is on Friday, March 10 from 8 – 10 p.m.

The next Hammer Bash will close out the Master of American Comics show at the UCLA Hammer Museum on Friday, March 10 at 7:00 p.m.

Located in Santa Monica’s Bergamont Station, CoproNason Gallery will have a triple threat art opening for Lori Earley, Audrey Kawasaki and Yosuke Oeno (there's that cosmic duck reference). The show runs through April 11 with the opening this Saturday, March 11 from 8:00 – 11:30 p.m.

Back to downtown, Fluxco will have an art reception for the photographic elevations of Larry Yust and the pop art of Shannon Crawford. Gallery owner, Ford Allen is a New Yorker who opened up Fluxco to feature work of East Coast artists on the West Coast. He is doing the same for West Coast artists in his Brooklyn gallery.
