Officer who shot Elio Carrion to be prosecuted

San Bernardino County District Attorney Michael A. Ramos has filed attempted manslaughter charges against deputy Ivory Webb, who shot Elio Carrion 5 times at close range on January 29. After the car Carrion was riding in was pulled over, a bystander pulled out his video camera.

It is almost unbelievable that victim Elio Carrion, an airman home from Iraq, survived. It's miraculous that the shooting was caught on tape. But most amazing of all is that the district attorney will charge the officer in the incident. The LA Times was at D.A. Ramos' press conference today, where he said, "We listened to it [the videotape] over and over. Not once did we hear Deputy Webb say, 'Don't get up.' We heard, 'Get up.'" (that's when the officer starts shooting). We applaud D.A. Ramos and wish him the best of luck in his prosecution.
