Prom Dress Request

promdress2.jpg

What did you wear to your first prom? We bet you still remember. Unfortunately, teen girls in foster care can't always afford prom dresses and may opt not to participate in such a special night.
In 2001 Child Advocates Office in Los Angeles County, a nonprofit advocacy group that helps foster children, started the Glamour Gown Project in order to help. Each spring, the Project collects and distributes new or gently used formal attire to teenage girls in foster care to wear to their proms and high school formals.

On March 4 and 5th, Kappa Alpha Theta volunteers, along with celebrity participants, meet with the girls to help each one find the perfect dress and accessories.

Glamour Gown Project coordinators will continue to collect dresses, wraps and purses (NO SHOES, please) until March 1st. If you can't stomach the sight of that bridesmaid dress, evening gown or prom dress, now is a good time to clean your closet and help a teen in the process.

Call Friends of CASA at 323 526-6329 for more information or to make a donation. Plus sizes are greatly appreciated.

Thanks for posting this link - I actually do have a dress and purse that I can donate to a worthy cause, now that I know about it.

I've given a number of the bridesmaid dresses I've had over the years to similar agencies... its a great thing to do, and you get more closet space to boot!
