AM news: the bad news version

No matter how much bad news we have, at least we're not digging out from a blizzard this morning.

For months we've been hearing KPCC's reports of a 2-year-old who was taken from her foster parents and returned to family members, then died in their "care." Allegedly, she was beaten so badly that her intenstine was severed. Now the LA Times finally runs the story, including a photo of the girl healthy and happy with her foster parents.

In another ready-for-Law-and-Order story, last fall a USC student secretly gave birth to a baby and left it in a shoebox next to her building's dumpster. When it was found, the baby was dead. (A particularly grody detail: she lived above a popular restaurant). Last week a coroner ruling's were released: the baby's death was a homicide — it may have been intentionally asphyxiated.

Continued violence in the county jail system has left four inmates at Castaic injured and one dead at Central Jail in downtown.

Ambramoff, schmabramoff: this is what happens when you don't give enough to the Republican Party.
