The road to Torino

With thermometers spiking into the 80s today it's kind of hard to imagine winter elsewhere. But winter it is. And the Winter Olympics start in just 3 days in Torino, Italy.

Local newscaster Fred Roggin is over in Europe to do some sports coverage ... and some blogging. According to the latest post, he's just now getting the hang of his Blackberry (careful, Fred, we hear those things are addictive) and that he has to share time in the satellite feed room with Billy Bush. Yeesh, those newscasters do put themselves in some scary situations.

It will be hard to miss the Winter Olympics on TV, but we love the blog coverage. Roggin's is surprisingly good. This girl has a crush on skater Johnny Wier, despite her fears that he doesn't play on her team. This one notes that Google Maps has gotten its Torino imagery sharp and clear just in time. These students from the University of the Pacific are volunteering at the games. And this guy is there for Canadian TV.

Sure, it's goofy of us, but we think the inside-via-blogs perspective is really neat. Have you found any Winter Olympic blogs you like?
