Video fun online

While youtube is becoming everyone's favorite addiction, another video site went live today. Turn Here is much more polished and showcases neighborhoods around the US, plus South Korea, Thailand, France and even Canada.

In general, the views of LA seem to be pretty spot-on mini-documentaries by people who really live here. Most of these people have your average jobs, you know, like firemen. And fire eaters. Anyway.

The tour of The Brewery is led by Coagula founder/editor Mat Gleason, who certainly qualifies as old-school Angeleno. Watts Towers includes African-Americans and Latinos, which is the real case for South LA, although usually people forget the Latino part. So far, way better than average. But in Echo Park, the fire-eaters go to Good, which anyone who lives on the eastside knows is nothing but BAD. Anyway.

The production values are good, and the insider perspectives good in a not-too-Hollywoody kind of way. It's funny, you could drop different filmmakers in the same 10-blocks and probably come up with infinite neighborhood guides. So far we think they're doing all right. What do you think?
