Surfing to the Metro

metrostore.jpg

We just stumbled on proof positive that LA has a subway system. The Metro has an online store! It sells notebooks and coffee mugs and umbrellas (umbrellas!) with maps of the subway and other metro transit lines. The valley-based Orange line gets a store section all its own. Of course, there are t-shirts and baby onesies and enamel pins and teddy bears; all this stuff indicates that we do have a working transit system.

And it's getting bigger: that's evidenced by the fantastic art deco-slash-Russian-style Eastside Extension poster, which manages to makes municipal construction seem kinda sexy.

What will it take to make you join us on the Metro?

How about this one for strange ideas. Will I ever see someone climb on the bus with this shirt on? If they do, I hope they also have a bag of sunflower seeds they are ready to start spitting on the floor.
