• The Aero Theatre features a screening of the third Golden Globe-nominated Foreign Language film, Joyeux Noel at 7:30 PM. Discussion to follow with director.
• Taxi Driver is on the big screen once again tonight at the Arclight at 8 PM.
• The Actors' Gang's roving performance of The Exonerated comes to REDCAT for shows tonight through Sunday. Tickets are $28-32 (non-members).
THURSDAY
• Tonight is the opening reception for "How It Happens" at Pharmaka Gallery. The party runs from 6–9 PM during the Downtown Art Walk.
• Kristin Hersh performs the first of her two nights at Tangier. Lauren Shera opens the show at 8 PM; tickets are $17 advance, $20 day-of.
• If you haven't seen it yet, check out the Golden Globe nominated Kung Fu Hustle at the Aero tonight at 7:30 PM. Discussion to follow with director.
• LACMA has a special 7:30 PM preview screening of Manderlay, directed by Lars von Trier and starring Bryce Dallas Howard, Udo Kier, Jean-Marc Barr, Jeremy Davies and Danny Glover.
FRIDAY
• The Helio Sequence, King of France (featuring Michael Azerrad, author of Our Band Could Be Your Life) and The Can't See are at Spaceland tonight. Doors open at 9 PM.
• Rademacher, Harpeth Trace, The Kris Special and Raymond Richards (of The Idaho Falls) are playing a free show tonight at Mr. T's Bowl in Highland Park. The show starts at 10 PM.
• Kristin Hersh's second night at Tangier opens with The Good Listeners at 8 PM. Tickets are $17 advance, $20 day-of.
• Devo is back to take on SoCal at the Canyon Club tonight at 9 PM.
• The Disney Concert Hall features Lang Lang performing Bartók tonight at 8:00 PM. Aside from "Piano Concerto No. 2," Mussorgsky's "Night on Bald Mountain" and Stravinsky's "The Rite of Spring" will also be performed.
SATURDAY
• The 1947project's Crime Bus tour is sold out for this weekend, but check the website if you want to be on the mailing list for next year's tour.
• The opening reception for Felipe Depouy's "Portrait Los Angeles" takes place tonight from 7–10 PM at The Higgins Building, 108 W. Second Street, Suite 104.
• White Out, Nels Cline, Lavender Diamond and DJ Kevin Fitzgerald are at Spaceland tonight. Doors open at 9 PM.
