Although, I find Yummy Cupcakes intriguing because of its bazillion exotic taste choices, i.e. Elvis cupcake (peanut butter cupcake frosted with chocolate banana buttercreme topped with chocolate chips), Sprinkles is still my cupcake king.

New York may have it all over Los Angeles in expense-account French restaurants, neighborhood Italian joints and Guyanese bakeries. I will even give them the nod on croissants, although there are some pretty good places here. But cupcakes? No way! The Magnolia Bakery, universally known as ``the Mongoloid Bakery'' by its neighbors, is just awful, a purveyor of sub-Duncan Hines cupcakes and such to a city eager to rediscover what their mothers used to make out of a box. And no lines fueled by Jerseyites freshly disgorged from the Christopher Street PATH station and midwesterners on Sex and the City bus tours can change that.

You must try the cupcakes at Auntie Em's in Eagle Rock. They are over the top, huge tasty creations, true West Coast cupcakes, moist and covered with frosting.
Mmmmmm.....
