Hitchcock at the Egyptian

Alfred Hitchcock fans are in seventh heaven this month, thanks to the Egyptian Theatre’s series, “Hitchcockian: The Master & His Disciples.” For the next three weeks, the Egyptian will screen some of Hitch’s most lauded – and some lesser known – films, which will then be paired with other movies that paid homage to, stole from or mocked the master of suspense.

The series kicks off tonight at 7:30 with 1951’s Strangers on a Train -- based on the novel by Patricia Highsmith and adapted by Raymond Chandler. It’s immediately followed by a restored 35mm print of Fritz Lang’s Human Desire, a 1954 remake of Jean Renoir’s Le Bete Humaine.

This weekend also includes quintessential Hitchcock works: the classics Vertigo, To Catch a Thief and Spellbound (which has been brilliantly paired with Mel Brooks’ High Anxiety.

General admission tickets are $9 and $6 for American Cinematheque members.
