And they're off!

Horseraces! Handicaps! No sooner had we posted about the not-quiet-announced Oscar host than the SAG Award nominees were announced. The biggest surprise must be the nomination of Hustle & Flow in the "best performance by a cast" category (SAG's version of "best picture"), while none of the cast members were nominated individually. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that Terrence Howard was robbed.

Other than that, it's what you'd expect. Both leads in Walk the Line, Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon, made the list; Heath Ledger from Brokeback Mountain for lead and Jake Gyllenhall for supporting. Don Cheadle and Matt Dillion both got supporting nods for Crash. Felicity Huffman may have a lock on Best Actress with her in-between performance in Transamerica.

The other four "best performance by a cast" nods went to Brokeback Mountain, Capote, Crash, and Good Night, and Good Luck.

As far as TV goes, HBO is looking good, and CBS isn't — it got only one acting nomination (compared to 9 for ABC). SAG hasn't yet come up with a "performance in a reality series" category, so we're still waiting for Janice Dickinson's nomination.
