Is it true there's no cure for a hangover?

guiness_dec05.jpg

We've heard vitamin B, bloody marys, mac-n-cheese, greasy burgers and ginger ale can help ease the pain of a morning after, say, an extremely generous bartender pours and pours. But just before Christmas British researchers found that "No compelling evidence exists to suggest that any complementary or conventional intervention is effective for treating or preventing alcohol hangover." Which we think is just a damn shame. Particularly this morning. What works for you? Tell us. Please.

Drink only Patron tequila -- no hangover!

Or, if you drink half tomato juice/half beer, you can literally stay drunk for hours and hours and not get a hangover

I hate to say it - but exercise is the best cure. Trust me. I went to university in Canada and woke up with many a hangover on a Saturday. Best cure was getting up and running around my Vancouver campus a few times. Two glasses of water, two aspirin, and some cardio is still the most effective - if toughest - way to get over the night before.

Avoid the "sweet" drinks, such as red wine or the colored stuff (Adios?). The less additives, the better. The purer and more refined the alcohol, the better. If you cave into the "yummy" stuff, my post drinking ritual helps.

I drink several cups of water and take about 500mg of Ibuprofen (Motrin or Advil) or Asprin and go to sleep. Then an Iced Coffee & food when you wake up.

Alka-Seltzer Morning Relief.

It works so well I will say it again: Alka-Seltzer Morning Relief.

I have recommended this to everyone I know, and no one has ever disagreed with me. This is the best remedy for hangovers that exists—though my favorite is still an extra-spicy Bloody Caesar.

i'm all about grease and gatorade in the mornings.

A greasy breakfast and as much gatorade as I can stand.

I also have to agree with the exercise suggestion. I often have had my best workouts when waking from only a few hours sleep and the taste of vodka still in my mouth.

I have successfully avoided hangovers by making sure to drink at least two glasses of water before I go to bed. That way I won't be dehydrated from all the alcohol the next morning.

With regard to the exercise theory, one time I was able to drag myself out of bed for an hour of treadmill and that actually worked, too!

A big glass of water before sleeping, then Diet
Coke and two Tylenol as soon as you wake up. Works every single time.

Menudo. It's the miracle soup and works every time.
