If you are crazy enough to be up New Year's morning and don't want to wear yourself out before going to the Rose Parade on Monday, why not run a 5K? Hell, make it harder on yourself and run it in the sand. Then take a dip in the ocean for a Polar Bear Swim to cool off. Think we're kidding? C'mon! Los Angeles doesn't take a calorie-burning day off!
Resolution Festival, a first year event taking place at the Santa Monica Pier, is set to make sure your 2006 goals are off to a healthy start. In addition to the aforementioned events, you can walk 10,000 steps, visit the free Expo, and get 25% off All-Day-Ride tickets at the pier. If you need a little more inspiration to get off your butt... the festival producer's 2005 resolution was to take more risks. So he self-funded the entire event, which is Sunday Jan 1 starting at 9am. (Ed note: fees to participate range from $35-$85 per event. If you're motivated, you can always jump in the ocean or go for a run for free.)

As the all-knowing savants of all things Los Angeles, you of course knew that the Rose Parade this year is on January 2, and that it is possible to participate in the Resolution Fest AND see the parade. Of course you did.

Condiment, thank you for letting us know about our incorrect mention of the Rose Parade being on Sunday. You are correct, it is in fact on Monday.
