News Roundup: too many guns, fries

We aren't churchgoers or religious, really, but we think if there is a hell, that's exactly where the man is going who shot several rounds into a Riverside home on Christmas, killing an 11-year old boy.

In less serious news, no one was hurt when a big rig flipped over at the 5 freeway transition to the 10 east last night. In trying to get the truck off the road, though, 80,000 pounds of frozen french fries tumbled out. They're still cleaning up the mess.

Some nice news: the Santa Monica Mirror gets a preview of the new 104,000 square-foot Santa Monica Public Library, which opens Saturday, January 7th.

And finally: The Pasadena Star-News sums up the arcane laws that will go into effect statewide come Jan 1. Please note: If you want to hunt animals over the internet from your California home, you've got just 5 days left. Of course, you wouldn't want to do anything that lame.
