Rachel, is "You're new in town, right?" just part of your shtick? I'm pretty sure you said the same thing to me in one of my early laist posts.

Glad to see, you're still enjoying reading we noobs who apparently don't know anything about the city you live in.

Yo, Pink, Thai-N-I in Tarzana/Encino is where all the good Goldbergs go, so you know it's good.

Mae Ploy, then Sanamluang at Hollywood and Winona. Palms for Thai Elvis with out-of-towners. Although once I was in Palms and someone was eating some sort of awful fish thing off the secret menu and the smell just drove me out of there entirely.

Congrats, Pinky!

I am so happy that you are going to gently direct the fabulous LAist.

I go Leela Thai in silverlake. Closer to my house. I like the themes. I think you should add underbelly of hollywood as a theme. Like contrast and compare.

also - your feet are not that small. good luck with your paper.

Thai Taste on Venice in Culver City or Mar Vista is consistently excellent. Also Leela Thai in Silverlake is always great and cheap.

I'm partial to an old favourite that is not in Los Angeles city limits. It's in the Newhall neighbourhood of Santa Clarita, but if you can make it, Thai Pepper is a classic for old timers and CalArts students alike. "PC" will be your waiter, his wife will cook your food, and his children will fill your drinks when they are not doing school homework at one of the restaurant's booths.

And to be partial (again) to my new home, Siam Cabin in Sherman Oaks offers a menu of beautifully displayed and flavourful dishes. The environment is classy, but comfortably casual.
