Santa and the unicorn

matrushka.jpg

This is one of those weekends Santa's hauling the sleigh around town and stocking up. If you've been nice, he might be stopping by...

Matrushka's t-shirt construction night. Co-owners/designers Laura and Beth Ann have mastered the art of sew-while-you-wait. Pick your fabric, patches or extras, and they'll make a one-of-a-kind t-shirt in front of you for $25. "In this era of zealous religious symbolism, " they say, "we feel the unicorn has been underrepresented." Utopian bliss with a flattering fit. (6-10pm Saturday, 4281 Fountain Ave., Silverlake)

The Dock Downtown's got snazzy furniture and home decor at up to 80% off retail. Usually their sales are invite-only, but so Santa doesn't miss out they're open to the public every day until Dec. 18 (10am-5pm weekends, 11am-7pm weekdays at 1481 E. 4th Street)

Santa will sure to be found lurking at the Los Feliz Village holiday festival. A trolley will be running, carolers carolling, refreshments flowing, a zoomobile with animals, um, zooing. Shopping, pedestrianess, a vintage firetruck and general holiday festivities from 6-10pm Saturday on Vermont in Los Feliz.
