Cranky vegans

Burger King has begun an ad campaign to promote its new meaty meat burger. "Just when you decided to go vegan: the triple whopper sandwich" pokes fun at vegans, or at the decision to become vegan. Now anyone who's ever made the choice to stop eating meat would not be lured by an extra fast food beef patty or two. So the concept is kind of silly, and likely to pass quickly into the dustbin of low culture.
Yet a vegan has gotten cranky about it. This billboard on Vermont near 3rd has been awkwardly amended "Stay vegan. stay true. The triple murder sandwich." We're not so sure that three beef patties at Burger King requires killing three cows, but why quibble.
Seen any other revised signs? Or is this the work of a lone cranky vegan?
Incidentally, we had a single murder sandwich and, for $2 extra dollars, walked away with a Han Solo watch.

There's no righteousness like self-righteousness!

awesome awesome tag. kudos to the vegan. but wait! you posted that photo AND went to BK? I must know, did you go to BK before or after seeing the billboard? This mirrors my experiences reading fast food nation and watching "Supersize Me" - in both cases I'm acting all super righteous and indignant, all the while getting hungrier than hell for two cheeseburgers and a large fries from McD's.

My brother's reaction on first listen to the Smiths' "Meat Is Murder":
"Man, I really want a hamburger right now."

3 cows werent killed to make 3 patties, however, as noted in "Fast Food Nation", a single hamburger patty often contains ground body parts from hundreds of different cows! That fact is gross, considering fast-food beef is the lowest grade meat, right there ahead of prison food. However, In-N-Out is the freshest, cleanest fast food meat to eat.
Im not going to stop eating hamburgers, however, Im conscious of what I choose to put in my body, even though I have momentary lapses in judgement.
It all comes down to class in the end. Largely, people who eat fast food are statistically lower-income, unhealthy, uneducated, or just in a rush. Despite eating at In-n-Out from time to time I detest fast food of any kind and consider it trashy, unhealthy, and low-class. But gimme Taco Bell any day! Mmmmmm.

In a city filled with better Mexican food (of all economic strata) than anywhere else north of the border, you eat at TACO BELL? Man, just kill yourself now.

Its funny that these vegans can't really control their criminal temperment thats why there are alot of extremist indivduals whom join ALF to commit crimes by "liberating" the animals for their own greedy desires, yet you'll never see not one of us destroying a AR billboard or anything in that nature.

"greedy desires"? "criminal temperment"? and when has anyone cared about the way a billboard looks, anyway? they're hideous to begin with!

Reality check. We destroy ecosystems (http://www.factoryfarming.com/environment.htm), steal 2-day old calves from their mothers and drag the males to the veal pen (http://www.factoryfarming.com/veal.htm), subject animals to 28-hour trips in sweltering heat without water (http://www.cok.net/feat/usti.php), and according to the Washington Post, sometimes slit open the guts of cattle who are still alive and conscious - just so we can have a cheeseburger. That's extremism. That's greedy desire.
(The ALF activists liberated - no quotes - mink from tiny cages, not much bigger than the animals themselves, so that the mink, for the first time in their lives, could run freely and swim in the water, their natural home. Mink in fur "farms" literally go crazy from the severe confinment and impoverishment.)
I don't condone defacing billboards but to compare grafitti with torture is ludicrous.

That's one of the silliest things I've ever heard. First of all, labeling the ONE vegan who spray painted this billboard as "these vegans" is a ridiculous generalization. Like any other group of individuals, most vegans are perfectly normal. There are, of course, a few extremists who do things such as spray paint this billboard. But it's a far cry from the norm.
And I'm not saying that I support the ALF, but it's completely laughable to say that ALF members liberate animals for their "own greedy desires". What greedy desires? Where does greed ever come into play when someone is putting themselves in danger to rescue, say, a beagle from a lab whose had her vocal chords ripped out because the experimenters didn't want to listen to her bark as they beat and tortured her? That seems pretty selfless to me, far from "greedy".

Huh?
"...whom join..."?
If "I never see not one" will I always see exactly one?
Fuck... This is like the goddamned Terminator!

You shouldn't ever stereotype anyone.. vegan or not. Generalizations never work. In any case, I think this is funny. I wish I had the nerve to spray paint a billboard like that. Perhaps if I was drunk..
In any case, i will just say that putting the health reasons aside, eating animals just isn't right, in my opinion... The way animals are killed for food is ridiculous and sick. How could someone ever do that to another living creature?
And don't give me that "circle of life" bullshit.. there is no reason or explanation someone could give me for torturing animals like they do in the industrialized animals farms. It's just fucked up.

This billboard is hilarious! And the vandalism done to it!
It's kind of funny how vegans always scream about how meat is murder but they don't pay one care to the fact that a lot of the people who are murdering animals the way they complain about are illegal immigrants that slaughterhouses hire because they are cheap labor. Dear vegans, if you would actually take action against using illegal immigrants for labor because they are cheap, and WILL do the slaughtering, then I'll begin taking you all seriously. And not every single dead animal people eat is murdered so horribly, there are free-range chickens and cows to begin with. Get over yourselves! You're not perfect! And most of you do other crap to harm yourselves, like smoke and drink. HAHAHAH!!

Killing animals is killing animals no matter where you are from. I dont care where if a person from another country is slaughtering the animal the main point is ... YOUR KILLING IT!. Personally I dont care if an immagrant is willing to take a job that is pays "cheaper" then another in pay, as long as this "immagrant" is willing to do the job and is not forced into it. I believe you are trying to refer to these slaughterhouses as workcamps where people are forced into a job that pays nothing at all because the greedy capitalist system has taken their country by storm and is raising the cost of living so the only jobs they can get are extremely low paying so they can support their family.

Maybe not, but the majority are and every life is precious to me. Get over myself? Maybe you should stop jumping to conclusions. A lot of vegans don't do other things to harm themselves because they are consious of their health. Look at carnivours, like they don't drink and smoke? Give me a break.

If you're a vegan PETA drone, you have little room to criticize others. PETA kill's healthy puppies and kitten's in the back of a van...for no other reason than they were homeless. The 'Disney' mentality of most vegans won't let them eat meat but they have no problem supporting terrorist organizations like PETA who kill healthy dogs and cats every day. *Tsk *Tsk

Dear people,
The argument against animal consumption is concrete. If you looked at that billboard either pre or post correcting and got hungry you are either blissfully ignorant or woefully lacking in compassion. Neither is acceptable.

Umm,yea. Perhaps you would like to learn how wonderfully "free-range" animals are treated. http://www.cok.net/lit/freerange.php

Rather than attacking vegans and labeling them as extremists, why don't you take a moment to really understand the issue. We are not self-righteous, we only strive to seek justice for voiceless animals who cannot defend themselves. Sometimes we do so in small ways, sometimes in big ways, and sometimes frustration gets a hold of us and we paint over a billboard. Because vegans are empathetic to all living creatures, it pains us when the subject is made fun of or used to lessen the severity of the issue such as in a billboard to promote triple whoppers. Simply put, all animals have the capacity to love, to feel fear, and to feel pain; All we ask is that you think before you eat.
Thank you.

Whoever commented on PETA obviously does not do any research before deciding to speak out. It is people like this that make you feel stupid for having listened to them even speak.
I any case, it is a very extreme, broad generalization to say vegan/vegetarians think they are better than everyone because they do not eat meat. That is completely ridiculous. Get a grip. IT'S OUR DIETARY PREFERENCE. And, of course we speak out. We hold a strong belief that is not favored by many. We take discrimination, put it aside, and keep going. We don't think we are better. We just have something to say.
And to take a 180 with this post..
Go ahead and eat cheeseburgers or whatever it is that is full of hydrocarbons that clog the smooth muscle tissue in your deteriating arteries. Go to Burger King. Go to McDonald's. But do not wonder why 20 years or so down the road (if not right NOW) why you have bad cholesterol, a dangerous blood pressure, and can't fit into a decent size of jeans because you've lost control of yourself and are fat.
So, it will be people like me, who are intending to be general surgeons, that will give you an angioplasty and revive you when you go into heart failure, or remove part of your stomach or colon at a desperate attempt to give you a few more months of life because you are cancer-infested. And it will also be me who warns you that if you do not have a virtually cholesterol-free diet (Oh, what's that.. a VEGAN diet) that you are going to have a reoccuring problem and risk death.
