Blog Angeles

laist_blogangeles.jpg

It's rivalry week and a cursory view of our blogroll shows the Trojan/Bruin war rages on. Boi From Troy is, obviously, almost all USC all the time this week while Loteria Chicana and Ultratart both wax nostalgic with dreams of past glory.

Caroline on Crack wants you to visit Hunky Santa at the Beverly Center. Hunky Santa? What, no Hot Hannukah Harriett dancing the horah for the lovers of ladies?

Was that enough alliteration for you?

While LAist used to have a hankerin' (sorry, once you start alliteratin' you just can't stop) for Coffee Bean, LosAnjealous is all about Starbucks.

A most unfortunate experience with 911 for the Funky Jenn Gazette.

Blogs are publishing! Left Coast Breakdown is announcing the video release of Straight Acting and Dodger Thoughts published a Best of collection from their blog. That's a good enough excuse for us to plug LAist's own Adrienne Crew who just released Blogosphere and Paul Davidson and his The Lost Blogs which doesn't hit shelves until next year (but is wonderfully advertised in the sidebar right now).

And, finally, 8763 Wonderland gave us a nice compliment in this post but, Rodger, why you gotta be bringing up old shit? We thought the LA Blog War of the Capulets and Montagues was over.

There's nothing that says Christmas, Jason, like a blog war. Seriously, though, I found it amusing that a couple of Blogging L.A. writers half-assed accused me of shilling for LAist by mentioning what a terrific job you guys are doing here. Wrong. I was simply holding LAist up as a model for an excellent regional blog with an emphasis on culture and lifestyle. And I've been remiss in mentioning that the addition of Jen Cincero (sic?) has really spiced things up around here.

You guys have come a long way, IMO.

Blognuts roasting on an open fire...

Thanks for the kind words. I like what we're doing lately, too. I don't necessarily feel like we're on the pulse of LA yet but we do a pretty good job of showing everybody a good time, where the good time is or where the good time was on a daily basis.

We like ol' filthy mouthed Jen a lot over here too!

Filth is always good.

So are plugs for books. Thanks, J!
