If you're part of the multitude of scribes hoping to break into the biz, then it's time to dust off the script hanging out in your bottom desk drawer and head Downtown this weekend. Screenwriting Expo 4 runs today through Sunday at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Sponsored by Creative Screenwriting magazine, the Expo has more than 350 seminars, panels and workshops as well as a trade show during the three-day event. Noted guests include Paul Haggis (Crash), David Milch (Deadwood) and Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer).

The Expo also hosts pitch slams -- PitchXChange -- where you pay $25 for five minutes to tell your story to a development exec or production company. (You can also buy five pitch chances for $100.) It may be a longshot, but a shot nonetheless, right?

Registration is available at the door for the $74.95 weekend pass. Attendees must register in order to purchase other individual event tickets.
