A Profile in Fug

Heather and Jessica, local blog queens and friends of LAist, having already conquered VH-1 and trashy gossip rags with their acerbic wit and keen eye for crazy-ugly-uncool get even more blog famous today with a profile in the Wall Street Journal (complete with sexy laptop picture). How popular is gfy?

The blog, which is called "Go Fug Yourself", has become a small sensation. (The creators say the name is short for "frightfully ugly.") The site now attracts about 126,000 visitors a day. Blog traffic still isn't closely monitored, but Technorati.com, a leading source of blog rankings, has Go Fug Yourself at No. 83 on its list of 100 biggest blogs, out of some 18 million tracked. (Technorati measures size by looking at how often a blog is mentioned by other blogs, a formula that it says indicates influence.) Based on sheer traffic, Go Fug Yourself ranks No. 6 among blogs, according to another tracking site, Truth Laid Bear.

KB Cafe Profiles, which is currently our favorite blog rank tracker (since it uses multiple tools), lists gfy at 32nd amongst all blogs, just behind our big sister Gothamist.

"Frightfully Ugly" though? Really? LAist must have a vulgar mind because we were sure the F stood for something else.
