Water Water Everywhere

While recent events have reminded us in the harshest, most disturbing ways about the dangers and necessities of water, in Los Angeles it’s generally all too easy to forget the virtually seamless infrastructure that makes this town’s existence possible.

The LA Department of Water and Power pays homage to the complicated man who helped make much of the city's expansion happen, Mr. William Mulholland. Make sure to watch Chinatown if you haven’t already, or for some of us, view it for the umpteenth time, and then check out “LADWP Salutes William Mulholland: The Man and His Vision.” Starting today the free exhibition is on view at LADWP lobby in the dazzling headquarters building (Albert C. Martin and Associates, 1963-64) at 111 North Hope Street. The MWD is participating too in the William Mulholland 150th anniversary celebration by opening an exhibition about Mulholland's life on Tuesday at 700 Alameda Street. Also LA City View Channel 35 will air “William Mulholland…A Tribute” on Monday.
