Sounds like the National Guard needs to patrol the areas and rescue people!... Oh, wait... they're not here, they're busy...

After the Northridge quake, I went to my neighborhood 7-11 and was stunned to find they were price gouging. They had actually taken the time to remove ALL price stickers. I reported them to the LA District Attorney and to the corporate office. I was promised that LA was going to prosecute them but I never heard anything. I never even got a reply from 7-11. I have never shopped at a 7-11 since. That said, I was secretly hoping that some of the stores being looted were 7-11s even though looting appalls me and I know these stores are independently owned.

I live in Cedar Rapids, Iowa but have a brother-in law & family in Abita Springs, La. We have heard from them & know they are OK but was there any damage in Abita Springs? (Rob Werner)
My family & I are praying for the people affected by the hurricane. God Bless you all! We will make a donation to the Red Cross to help! Keep the faith! Bob Woodland

What bugs me the most is the [repeated] sensationalized coverage. Yesterday I saw repeated clips--around 7 or 8 times-- of that poor man who lost his wife. The first time I saw it, I wanted to cry. By the 8th time, I just muted the TV.

In catastrophes, the local and national news channels completely overdo the coverage. I wish they would break every 30 minutes when actual NEWS or developments surface... rather than filling three or four hour "news" blocks.

Nice post.
