Help Out Those in Need

katrina.jpg

Americans rose to the occasion when the Asian tsunami hit in December. Now it's time to help out a little closer to home. A few local media outlets have set up emergency relief centers where Los Angelenos can drop off check, cash or credit card donations. Here are a few:

TalkRadio 790 KABC, 95.5 KLOS and ESPN Radio 710, ABC 7 and The Walt Disney Company are hosting American Red Cross events at the following locations:

Dodger Stadium (enter Gate A-off Elysian Way) (until 7PM)
Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim (enter Douglas Street - off Katella) (until 7PM)
Angel Stadium in Anaheim (3PM till 8PM)

NBC4 is teaming up with the American Red Cross to sponsor fundraisers at two locations from 4-6:30PM. Again, monetary donations only are being accepted.

Burbank -- at the corner of San Fernando and Palm Avenue (near the Burbank Town Center).
Knotts Berry Farm -- 8039 Beach Blvd., Buena Park

As always, you can donate to the Red Cross directly by visiting its website or by calling 1-800-HELP-NOW. Please be patient because the site and phone lines are busy.

There's still time to help today. Please do.
