Blogger Blood Drive

Don't forget to make your reservation to give blood on Friday, August 26th at the blood drive organized by Celia E of 5th and Spring blog. The blood drive will be located in a gorgeous downtown penthouse so here's an opportunity to do good and enjoy views of Los Angeles's city lights.

The blood drive is for Celia's sister Laura who is undergoing chemotherapy treatments to battle cancer. Laura keeps a blog about her experiences at Kevin's Dead Cat.

Volunteers from Kaiser will be drawing blood a 11:00AM to 7:00PM. Appointments can be made for the top of each hour to avoid long waits. As an extra incentive donate a pint of blood and you get a free pint of beer at Cole's P.E. Buffet during the after party at 8 PM. If you can't make the blood drive on Friday, please feel free to contact the organizers and they can give you info about donating blood for Laura at a blood center at a later date.

On a side note, Shannon at Sha in LA, a blood drive advocate, shares some helpful advice. She writes "one piece of helpful info though, the nurses drawing your blood DO NOT WANT TO KNOW that you will be consuming alcoholic beverages after a blood donation so you may want to keep that on the DL. You know what I mean???"

She also cautions folks not to drink beer soon after donating blood because they may pass out. So go to Cole's and have some root beer, so that you don't pass out.
