I've only been to the Counter once, and I wanted to love it, but only ended up liking it. While I dug the selection of toppings and burger possibilities, and while the 50/50 basket rocked, two things kept me from having an Optimal Burger Experience:

1) Atmosphere. My wife and I went early on a Friday evening, and the place was jammed, mostly with families who didn't seem too intent on keeping their kids from running around. Screeching, talking loud, singing? I can deal with that from kids. But running around when elbow room is already at a premium in there? Dude, either hire a sitter or bring the coloring books.

2) The bun. My bun had serious integrity issues. It dissolved within my first few bites, which is a big turn-off. I love a juicy burger, but not so juicy that it slips out of my hands and runs down my arm. The bun is integral to the burger experience, and the bun that night failed.

But, hell, I'll give 'em another shot. Mo' Better Meaty Meat is gone, parking is impossible at the Apple Pan, and I'd rather wade into a soccer riot than try to find a seat at Father's Office. The Westside needs a Righteous Burger, and the Counter has that potential.

Any time I'm in ocean park I make sure I head on over to the counter. The Burgers are delicious though you usually have to ask them to make your patty well done as they can sometimes make 'em too rare as to almost be raw. Try the differnt toppings, my favorite are the cranberries. It adds a nice counterpoint to the saltiness of the meat.

I love the counter. The burgers are delicious, in the top 5 burgers in town in my opinion... and the decor etc. are really nice. Great addition to Ocean Park!
