Hee Seop Joy

There's a new song at Chavez Ravine. And it's called "Ode to Choi."

Well, perhaps we're in a little over our heads, but Hee Seop Choi had the best weekend of any Angeleno, single-handedly leading the Dodgers to a series win over the Twins. Choi hit six home runs in three games, including three yesterday to beat a probable playoff team.

The Dodgers have now won their last three series, and while beating the Brewers and Tigers at home is not exactly something to write home about, it does seem like things are turning around. We now know that the reason why DJ Houlton couldn't pitch in relief is because the guy is actually a decent starter. Suddenly a rotation in tatters, might be OK, especially after Elmer Dessens pitched 4 shutout innings yesterday in Vegas. Even Jeff Weaver's shoulder seems better, while Odalis Perez could be back soon.

And offensively, JD Drew has quietly been phenomenal after a slow start (although he proved he has no business playing center field). Antonio Perez has also put an end to all Joe Randa trade rumors. As for Choi, he's been Mr. Inconsistent all year. We'll see if this weekend was a sign that he's realizing his potential.
