• The Silverlake Lounge hosts a free evening with Depression Party, Telecast and Maritime Academy starting at 9 PM.

• At Spaceland, Damon and Naomi (with Kuri Hara of Ghost) will be performing with Timonium and The Moon Upstairs. Doors open at 9 PM.

• The Vacation begin a three-day stint of record release gigs at the Silverlake Lounge. Tonight features performances by The Binges, The High Speed Scene and Drugstore Cowgirls. Cover is $5.

• Lewis Black will be signing Nothing Sacred at BookSoup at 7 PM.

• Dutton's Brentwood hosts Amy Ephron for a signing of One Sunday Morning at 7 PM.

• Author Naomi Hirahara will discuss and sign Gasa Gasa Girl at 7 PM at Vroman's in Pasadena.

• Tonight is also the monthly RES Magazine showcase, featuring the work of filmmaker Brian Beletic; new videos from Gorillaz, The Arcade Fire and the Chemical Brothers; and drinks, gifts and DJs Todd Roberts & Kiino Villand following at Geisha House. The show starts at 8 PM at the Egyptian Theatre.

WEDNESDAY

• The Troubadour presents Fielding, Yes Dear, Addison, Redwalls and Aribella Harrison at 7 PM. Tickets are $8 advance.

• The Vacation perform their second night of record release gigs at the Silverlake Lounge. Tonight features performances by The Thieves, The Chelsea Smiles and Sabrosa Purr. Cover is $5.

• Old 97s frontman Rhett Miller performs tonight at Largo at 8 PM.

• The Hammer Museum has a screening of Get Rid of Yourself, an original film by the Bernadette Corporation, at 7 PM.

THURSDAY

• Viva Voce, Ill Lit and Summer at Shatter Creek perform tonight at Spaceland. Doors open at 9 PM.

• The Vacation perform their third and final night at the Silverlake Lounge, featuring performances by The Gunshy, All Hours and Frisky Jones. Cover is $5.

• Author Kazuo Ishiguro will discuss and sign Never Let Me Go at Vroman's at 7 PM.

• LACMA has the 6:30 PM Masters of Architecture Lecture: Richard Meier. Tickets are $12 general admission; $10 AIA and LACMA members; $5 senior 62+ and students with ID; free to students from USC and CalPoly Pomona.

• MOCA Grand Avenue features an Art Talk by Jeremy Strick, MOCA director and co-curator of Visual Music. The lecture begins at 6:30 PM, admission is free.

• Guitarist Steve Vai performs at The Wiltern with special guest Eric Sardinas at 8 PM. Tickets are $25 and $32.50.

• Gogogo Airheart, The Willowz, Tsk Tsk and sO sO sO... perform tonight at The Smell. Doors open at 9 PM and tickets are $5.

• The Museum of the American West hosts a panel in the series "Fighting Back? Violence in the American West," titled "Gangster to Gangsta: The Romantic Outlaw Yesterday and Today" about the romanticization of violence in the American West. The panel takes place from 2 – 3:30 PM. Admission is $10.

• At the Huntington, this Saturday is the first of a two-session workshop on Ikebana from 9 AM – 12 PM. Registration is $75 for non-members, $65 for members.
