LA Pesach Pick Ups

dancingmatzoman.jpg
Passover begins this weekend and we've seen plenty of Angelenos stocking up for seders. We saw items for the holiday at the Burbank Costco (but they didn't have the dancing Matzo Man (shown at right) for sale like at Walgreens on Wilshire Blvd near Formosa):

Yehuda Passover Matzos at $5.99 for 5 1lb boxes. But how do they taste?

Costco also had 64 oz jars of Rokeach Gefilte fish for $5.79 and 6.75 oz bottles of Kadem Grape juice for $5.98.

Still pondering recipes? Gourmet.com has some pretty good menu suggestions and no-fail matzo ball recipes.

In our search for all things Passover LA, we happened upon a recommendation for Kosher Champagne over on the Chowhound LA-board. Chowhound is coming out with new guides in print. Unfortunately, New York and San Francisco are the first cities covered, but LA shouldn't be too far behind.

So what's on your seder menu this year?

Why Joyva jelly rings and marshmallow twists, of course! But this is the year for trying my hand at baking macaroons...if I can resist the temptation to see if Boule has a kosher version of the heavenly multi-chromatic and variously flavored macarons.

Instead of the beloved yet putrid Manishevitz, Silverlake Wine has a very promising kosher for Pesach Syrah in stock. It'll pair nicely with the veggie "chopped liver" I make.
