The Navy's Finest Destroyer

laist_navydays.jpg

Want to see something cool on Thursday? The USS Stethem (not pictured. That's the USS Vandergrift) will be docking at the Port of Los Angeles at 4 PM. The destroyer will be in port for 5 days as local Navy men participate in Navy Days LA, an annual event organized by the United States Navy League.

Accompanying the USS Stethem and its several hundred person crew into port will be the Fireboat Warner Lawrence. The San Pedro High School Band (and probably a whole host of family and friends as the ship is homeported in San Diego) will be performing and greeting at Berth 46.

Public tours of the ship will be available on Friday and Saturday mornings between 8:30 and 11 AM.

Update: Boi from Troy wants to know where the boys are and while we can't seem to find an official schedule for the events anywhere, 5th and Spring says men (and women) with their sea legs will be hanging out in Long Beach.
