A couple of weeks ago, a Girl Scout in our extended family solicited our order for a box of cookies. How could we resist her pitch, which went something like this: "when are you gonna sign up for cookies?"
Yep, it's time for the great spring ritual known as "Girl Scout Cookie Program," the official Girl Scout literature calls it that so LAist has adopted it, too. As any good Girl Scout already knows, she cannot sell cookies online but can send emails to friends telling them that they are selling cookies. You can find the Los Angeles Girl Scout Council here.
Has a Los Angeles girl scout approached you yet? Tell us about it below...we've been looking for pictures on Flickr, but only found a few out-of-state pics.
We're so into cookie season that we plan to post our own pictures of cookie booths at local groceries in the coming weeks, but we also encourage readers to send us snaps of Girl Scouts spotted selling cookies in your neighborhood and you may just win MORE COOKIES.
What Girl Scout troop have you seen that sells their cookies in the most "Los Angeles-like" manner? Skits from "Troop Beverly Hills" don't count...
Update:
Lisa over at blogging.LA reports that she bought cookies from some Scouts at the Ralphs on Ventura and Vineland in Studio City. She links to a Daily News article about how the rains are hampering Girl Scout sales this year. If you see a soggy Scout this week, buy some cookies from her and help raise troop's sales quota.

Oh, no. I'm getting flashbacks of my days standing outside of supermarkets and banks selling cookies in my Brownies uniform.
There were Girl Scouts all over the farmer's market down on Main Street in Santa Monica yesterday, peddling their cookies in the midst of all the organic produce and upscale, $4-per-marshmallows artisanal bakers and candymakers.
They weren't even very local scouts -- they had come in all the way from the San Fernando valley. No word on what the Santa Monica scouts were doing instead.
Got harassed at work not by a girl scout but by something more deadly... the girl scout parent. Ended up buying four boxes and was shocked when i got the bill... when did they get so expensive?
I also some them them peddling outside of blockbuster in Woodland hills. I pulled down my baseball cap and ran.
We had Girl Scouts selling cookies in the lobby of our office building here in Century City.
wow, Hilary. Does the office building in Century City feature talent agencies. Wonder if some enterprising agent has her assistant selling her kids cookies too
Those little hussies have been hanging outside of the Blockbuster on Larchmont.
