Kotaku points us to a petition to get Hollywood to consider video games for the Walk of Fame. To this we respond: No.
There are enough animated characters (see picture) on the walk as it is. In fact, we think there should be a moratorium on new stars on the walk right now and some new rules established (like you need to be over 50 or dead to get a star).
We have nothing against video games, we just think Sonic the Hedgehog doesn't deserve the same accolades as Johnny Carson, Lucille Ball and Sydney Poitier.
But that's just us.

I agree that now is not the time to include video games as a starworthy category for the WoF. And while I would never want to see a video game character included (à la Kermit or Bugs), I *do* envision a time when the creators of videos would be worthy of the recognition. Despite the high revenues generated by these games, I just don't think we've reached the point where these games (as a broad category) have the same cultural relevance that movies, TV, music, etc. have. And it'll probably be a while before they do.
