The Other Radio Story

It seems like everyone around town is all over Michael of Franklin Avenue's post about the possibility that Indie 103.1 isn't long for this world but we have our eye on another situation.

The return of KDAY (now on FM at 93.5) seems to have put a little fear in the big kid on the block, Power 106. According to The Elements, some Power 106 Dee-Jays have been pushing hip hop artists to not do promos for the upstart station. Maybe KDAY is scary though with it's roster of hosts featuring big local hip hop names like Julio G. and The Baka Boyz.

We took time away from our XM radio to listen to both channels this morning and found...not much difference. In a 20 minute period, both KDAY and Power 106 played 3 of the same songs at nearly the same time. We did appreciate KDAY's lack of DJ chatter though and was impressed with their ability to go back and forth through old school hip hop hits and new school jams without much problem.

That said, Power won our hearts this morning by playing Eazy-E's "Radio". That's some classic west coast goodness right there.
