Punk Lives

It’s been over a year since Indie 103.1 blitzed onto the Los Angeles airwaves. Since the station's debut, Angelenos have been treated to a heady mix of 70’s punk attitude interspersed with a remarkably independent mindset. For all likeminded individuals, it’s made for quite a unique experience. Still, the station needed a voice…an image, an icon…someone who could truly galvanize the good people of our fine city and give them a swift, old-fashioned kick in the ass.

That man was Steve Jones.

The "Sex Pistols’" former guitarist has taken to his “new” gig in radio almost as naturally as he took to stage diving and alcohol imbibing decades ago. Now "Blender" magazine has done an impressive spread on the living legend’s daily 2 hour noontime show in their current issue , and LAist can’t help but be impressed. "Jonesy’s Jukebox," as the show is so aptly titled, continues to gain national acclaim and it appears to be the kind of program that all of us jaded L.A. folk can turn to for inspiration, laughter and a damn good beat that you can really dance to.

As we collectively hold our lighter in the air, LAist offers up an energetic, hearty and congratulatory “Oi!” to Jonesy. Here’s to many more…
