Art and Ritual Lecture Series: The Spirit of Rice

Fowler curator Roy Hamilton will show photographs and video footage from Northern Japan depicting the sacred rice ritual celebrated at the beginning of each year. UCLA's premier reggae group delivers an evening of roots groove to feed your soul and Jamaican food to feed your tummy.

Roundtable Discussion: Healing Arts and Heavenly Cures: Botánicas and Alternative Medicine in Los Angeles

UCLA scholars including Michael Owen Jones, Bonnie Taub, Patrick A. Polk, and Claudia J. Hernández join with practitioners to discuss alternative and folk medical practices in Southern California and consider their impact on health-seeking behaviors, healthcare policy, and community well-being.
