We Be Clubbin'

Earlier this week, LA.Com's nightlife newsletter, Plus One, gave their list of favorite local hot spots and while we might quibble with their favorite nights at most of the venues we can't much complain.

Spider Club continues to be our favorite location to drink with friends, star watch, and dance. We just like it on Mondays when Morty is spinning 80s all night. The crowds have waned a bit and we're not sure how much longer the night is going to last so we recommend you trying your hand at the door this Monday. With lots of Hollywood on their way to Park City for Sundance, we bet there's room for you.

Do people still go to Century Club? We figured once it had been name-checked by Dr. Dre on The Chronic 2001 that it was officially dead. It's entirely possible, though, that we're merely showcasing our snobbery.

We must confess that we've never been to the Bigfoot Lodge and are sad about that. Having heard very good things about their "Girls Night Out" affair, we've recommended it to friends often but haven't actually attended it ourselves. We've been too busy enjoying our own favored bar, Daddy's, and it's apparent resurgence.

We're going to try to rev ourselves up for "Girls Night Out" this weekend by venturing out on a Saturday afternoon to Silverlake. Spaceland Saturdays is hosting "Play Date with the Pin Down Dolls" from 2pm to 6pm. What's better than afternoon rock and burlesque? We're pretty sure nothing. $5 gets you in the door.
