Assessing the Damage

Lots of news about the damage caused by all the storms we've endured this month.

Blogger LAPD Wife reminds us of the debt of gratitude we owe our public servants during times of crisis. She writes, "I have been constantly amazed watching the news this last week with the hard work and heroics of the many search-and-rescue teams, law enforcement, firemen and many civilians battling the disasters and mayhem resulting from the tremendous rains we’ve been soaked with."

We'd also like to acknowledge LA's DWP workers who cleared flooded streets.

And we appreciate the many parking attendants and valets who valiantly stood under their umbrellas during all the wetness too, enduring splash after splash from rushing traffic and dodging the umbrellas of patrons who ventured out for a meal despite the storms. Shallow, but true. Let's hear it for LA's working class.
