Eat Ya Later, Alligator

We recommend breaking your carbo/sugar fast with a piece of Alligator (currently available at Gelson's Markets, pictured above), those delectable pecan encrusted pasteries. Growing up, we couldn't get enough of the flaky, buttery treat enlivened with marzipan and have fond memories of patronizing the bakeries around Robertson and Pico.

While rummaging through the Cook's Exchange archive of the Daily Press, we discovered an actual recipe for the pastry. If you aren't up to baking, you can pick one up at the following bakeries.
