This weekend, we're partying with hipsters and horses.

First, the party you can't go to: Tonight, Surface Magazine and Smashbox Studios are coming together for another one of their cool parties featuring art, pool, dancing, and more creative hipsters than you can shake a stick at. 9 PM on the Smashbox Studio lot. RSVP only.

On Saturday, we think you should curl up with a good book, enjoy the rainfall and listen to CDs of the bands vying for this year's Short List prize. After all that relaxing, you'll be more than ready to dance til the morning comes at God's Kitchen. Bad Boy Bill and Steve Smooth will be beat selecting at the Henry Fonda Music Box Theater all night long. Tickets are $15.

Sunday afternoon's are perfect for the ponies. Hollywood Park in Inglewood is open for business and the first race is at 12:30 PM. General admission is only $7.

Then, on Monday night, now that you've been schooled on all the Short List bands, see who wins the prize. Ahmir "?uestlove" Thompson, The Dixie Chicks, Beck, and Norah Jones are among the judges this year and TV on the Radio, Dizzee Rascal, and Nellie McKay will all be performing. 8 PM at Avalon Hollywood. Tickets are $20.
