Never was that more evident than last night when the Rockies walked Adrian Beltre for Milton Bradley, which is the equivalent of being on Jurassic Park and asking to be attacked by a velociraptor instead of T-Rex. Bradley got the game-winning base-hit in the 8-7 victory over Colorado.

Of course, earlier in the evening, Beltre tied Mike Schmidt’s single-season record for home runs by a third baseman with 48, so it’s hard to fault Clint Hurdle’s judgment.

The Dodgers have now have 50 come-from-behind victories this season, largely due to their improved offense which can slug its way back in games. Tommy Lasorda once said that every team will win one-third of its games and lose one-third of its games no matter what happens. It’s that middle-third which determines a season. With 50 come-from-behind wins, the Dodgers are having a heck of a season.
